Guide to Spring and Summer Footwear

Transitioning from the cool winter months, into the warming spring and summer temperatures, footwear changes. Finding the appropriate shoe for this time can be a challenge. Here I will show you fashionable and functional footwear for the transition of seasons. Make sure to invest in at least one awesome pair of flats, wedges, and sandals!

Flats: Flats are a great way to make any outfit appear more put together, and elegant. Compared to sneakers, flats are chic. Outfits out of magazines often pair the clothing with heels, which for occasions such as going to class, is just not realistic. Flats are both comfortable and stylish when paired with casual wear. Whether you are running errands, meeting up with friends, or going on a date, flats are the perfect choice. Investing in one great neutral pair of flats is sure to get you through the spring and summer season in style. Below I will show you some basic neutral flats as wardrobe staples, but also colorful and printed flats that are sure to bring some life to any outfit.

Sandals: Ranging from flat sandals, wedges, and four inch heels, when it comes to warm weather there are unlimited options. Flat sandals are perfect for traveling and dressing comfortably and casually. Wedges are so comfortable and easy to walk in, they are perfect for summer lunch dates or nights out. Sandals that have a heel are appropriate for more formal occasions, or even a late night out with friends. No matter what you are doing this spring and summer, a great pair of flat sandals, a wedge, and heel are must have items for your wardrobe.  Below I will provide you with a bunch of different sandals for all different events you may encounter this spring or summer.

Totes, Clutches, and Luggage

Whether you are looking for a tote to carry books to class, or a small clutch to bring out to lunch, or travel luggage, you have come to the right spot. Here you will find the newest spring and summer arrivals. Zippers, studs, and embellishments are trends that will appear often when looking for the right bag. Colorful bags are something I am also seeing more frequently. Adding a colorful tote to any outfit is sure to brighten it up and add some interest. When traveling, always make sure it is in style! Don't drag out that old suitcase you have had since you were going to grandmas for the night. Really invest in some adult luggage that you won't be embarrassed to grab at the luggage claim. Instead of dragging your huge tote that you use for class, put your essentials into a trendy clutch. They are perfect for carrying your iphone, credit cards, license, and some make up!

How to Wear Colored or Printed Denim

This season colored and printed jeans are a must have item. Putting outfits together with such bold colored or printed denim is a challenge for some people. Here you will see some outfits that are already paired together with the jeans for occasions such as classes, or weekend wear, or even a night out. Colored and printed jeans are a great way to mix up the classic looks. At first I wasn't sure if this trend was something I could pull off, but after experimenting I found the right way to do it. When paired with a neutral solid shirt on top the outfit does not appear as overdone or too much. Big and bold accessories are not needed for these outfits, since the pants are the main focus.

For a weekend out this spring or a night out this summer when the sun is going down, this simple outfit is perfect. Replacing the wedges for a pair of flats will make this outfit functional for going to class. Chambray shirts have been a major trend for this season, they can be paired with jeans or thrown over a maxi dress.

This look above is cute and functional for attending classes all day, or for casual weekend wear. Cap toed flats are also another upcoming trend for this spring and summer season. Pairing bold colors with prints doesn't just stop at this outfit, mix and match with crop tops and skirts for a more daring look.

From Class to a Night Out: Maxi Dresses

This spring and summer season, maxi dresses are all the rage. Simple and chic, they are a must have staple in your wardrobe. Maxi dresses can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on what you pair with them. During the summer months especially, throwing on a dress to go out in is the easiest thing, Since the dresses are so long it makes them a little warmer, which is perfect for a late lunch or dinner when the sun is starting to go down. Some may shy away from the dresses because of the length if you are petite like I am. Being 5 foot 2 inches I have this problem often, but hemming is a quick fix and usually inexpensive.

Knitted Maxi's are essential for casual look.  When paired with sandals and simple jewelry this effortless look is perfect for a day in class or running errands.

When paired with some killer heels, and a statement necklace, maxi dresses are perfect for a night out. This outfit is classy and elegant for any evening occasion, or even just a night out with some friends. The material of the dress is light, so you wont be overheating when wearing this on a hot summer night.
